The MBSTP is a “Membership” based nonprofit 501c3 organization. The governance structure is very grass-roots democracy. The Members become voting members by paying their dues (which are kept at an affordable level). The Membership elects the Directors to a two-year term by popular vote. Each year, “half” of the eleven member board of directors is elected (five seats on even years, and six seats on odd years). It is an open election in that any member can appeal to the board to be included on the ballot. The ballot allows for “write-in” candidates, but the candidate must be a member of record to be eligible. The Directors serve without compensation. The board position is extremely rewarding in that the directors make the work of MBSTP possible through their efforts.
The Members are a diverse group of salmonid enthusiasts with a civic minded, hands-on approach to salmon recovery.
